Learning How to LOVE
in Two Weeks

A Self-Study Program through
1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Learning to love others as Jesus loved us is a lifelong adventure. No one comes to a point where they don't need to learn more. But your lifelong education can get a good start by studying the thirteenth chapter of Paul's letter to the Corinthians.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

DAY 6

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul:
the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

Psalm 19:7

Isaiah 3:5 The people will be oppressed, Every one by another and every one by his neighbor; The child will be insolent toward the elder, And the base toward the honorable."
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy; meditate on these things.
2 Thessalonians 3:7 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly among

you;

1 Peter 3:8 Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous;

22. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23. Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

When the LORD says that He is "longsuffering and abundant in goodness" He is telling us that we also should be abundant in goodness. Exodus 34:6 And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth,
Leviticus 11:44 'For I am the LORD your God. You shall therefore consecrate yourselves, and you shall be holy; for I am holy. Neither shall you defile yourselves with any creeping thing that creeps on the earth.
The same Greek word used in Galatians 5:22 for "goodness" is used in the Greek Old Testament. "The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again, but the righteous sheweth goodness, and giveth." (Psalm 37:21)
It is the unrighteous man who "lovest evil more than goodness." Psalm 52:3 You love evil more than good, Lying rather than speaking righteousness. Selah
God rewards goodness, as pointed out in Jotham's parable. (Judges 9) Judges 9:16 "Now therefore, if you have acted in truth and sincerity in making Abimelech king, and if you have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house, and have done to him as he deserves; then rejoice in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice in you.
Judges 9:20 "But if not, let fire come from Abimelech and devour the men of Shechem and Beth Millo; and let fire come from the men of Shechem and from Beth Millo and devour Abimelech!"
Jehoiada was a good king. He was buried in the city of David because he manifested the fruit of the Spirit - goodness - in Israel. 2 Chronicles 24:16 And they buried him in the City of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, both toward God and His house.
Josiah was also a good king. Some of the history of his reign can be found in the book of 2 Chronicles. Goodness is written in the Law of the LORD, which was authored by the Spirit, and endorsed by Christ. (Matthew 5:17-20) But "the rest of the acts of Josiah, and his goodness which was according to that written in the Law of the LORD, and his deeds, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah." (2 Chronicles 35:26-27)
The 20th century is the Age of Secularism. We have outgrown the "primitive codes" of ancient Israel. Has the decline in Law-obedience brought more goodness to the world? The triumph of Humanism has seen a greater percentage of the human race deliberately killed (with the sanction of the State) than in any previous century in human history: around two hundred million people. "My goodness!" Americans work for companies that manufacture weapons to kill people, and vote for candidates who use those weapons on innocent people. "Nothing rude or unloving about that." But call a child molester a "fag" -- now that's rude.
Shouldn't the Christian be a defender of God's Law?

Romans 13:8-10 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. {9} For this,

it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely,

{10} Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
